• What is a paint your own pottery studio?
A contemporary ceramic studio that is stocked with hundreds of pieces of bisque(ceramic pieces)to glaze.
• How does it work?
You choose the pieces of bisque you want to glaze. We supply the glazes, stencils, stamps and can assist you with design ideas. After you glaze your piece we put an over glaze on it and fire it in the kiln. You will have your masterpiece in a week.
• Do you use lead in your glazes?
All of our glazes are lead free.
• Are the pieces food safe after they are fired?
Yes
• Can I put my piece in the oven or use it in the microwave?
The only time your piece should go in the oven is to set your pebeo glaze pen. We DO NOT recommend putting your piece in the microwave.
• Do I need to be a certain age or have any artistic ability to come in to the studio?
As long as you can still have fun, ages 3-100 are appropriate. No artistic talent is required.
• What is the cost for paint your own pottery?
The total cost is the studio fee plus the cost of the pottery. The studio fee is $10 a day for an adult and $7 a day for a child 12 and under. Our Ladies Night out studio fee is $8(Thursday from 6pm-9pm).
• What does the fee include?
The use of the studio, glazes, tools and idea books, firing and finishing your piece.
• How do your childrens parties work?
The party host will choose from 3 different parties. A $12 party for 3 to 4 year olds and either a $17.75 or $19.75 party for ages 5 and older. The host will also choose from a primary or pastel palette of glazes. Included in your party are paper/plastic goods,a party assistant, a special gift for the party child, set up and clean up. You can also add special custom memories. Feel free to bring in food* or drinks or a pizza party can be arranged. You can also add a half hour of time and we will do the girls nails for $55 or for just the half hour of time $35.

A $50 non-refundable deposit is required upon reserving your party.

• How long are the parties?
Three and four year old parties last 60 minutes. Five year olds and over parties last 90 minutes.
• How do your Princess/pirate birthday parties work?
The Princess party is our newest party. Each girl will have a choice of special princess pottery(cup, bowl, plate, frame,plaque-selection may be limited)to paint. After painting a princess craft will be completed. Pink plates, napkins and forks will be supplied and finally we will hand out loot bags. All girls will get a tiara and loot bag. Cost is $23.75/person. Add $1.50 per person for a choice of the frame and add $1.50 per person for embellishing a frame or a plaque. Party is 90 minutes long.
If you have boys at your party they won't be left out. They will paint pirate pottery, have black plates and a special craft and loot bag just for them. Yo! ho! ho!
• What is a friendship bead party and what does it cost?
A minimum of 8 friends paints a set of beads(bead amt. per guest = number of party guests). The beads are traded so each party guest has a bead from each person. Beads will be put on a cord. The fee is $150 for 8 guests and $20 for each additional guest. Ceramic bead necklaces are glazed and fired. You can pick up necklaces in 1 week at the store. The limit for this party is 13 children.
• Do you have stuff a bear/animal parties? How does it work? Can we just come in to the studio and buy bear clothes and stuff an animal?
The party includes an animal plush skin**, a tee shirt**(fabric markers and rhinestones will be used to decorate the tee shirt), a wishing star,another wish, birth certificate,stuffing, paper/plastic goods, set up/clean up, special gift for party child. This party costs $21/child. We will also have add-ons as follows: cardboard home for furry friend is $2.50/child, canvas backpack to hold animal-can be finished with markers at the party is 3.50/child, prerecorded voice chip is 2.50/child.**
**Selection and colors vary
Yes, you may walk in to the studio during open hours and purchase clothes and accessories or come in to stuff a new furry friend. Ask about offsite parties.
• How do your adult pottery parties work?
Adult parties last 2 hours and require a minimum of 6 people. The cost is $12 per guest plus the price of the bisque glazed. Food and beverages can be brought in to add to your experience.
• Can we bring a group into the studio?
Of course, but I would recommend calling first on busy days to reserve a table for 6 or more.
• When will my piece be ready to pick up?
In one week. You can always call the store to ask if your piece is ready.
• What is silver clay and how does it work?
Silver clay looks like childrens clay but it is 99.99% pure silver with water and organic binders. You mold the clay into pendants, charms or earrings, etc.. The clay will take on impressions and textures. You can also set stones in the clay. After the clay is fired in the kiln the organic binders and water burn away and you are left with pure 99.99% silver.
• Will I need any instruction in silver clay?
Yes. We will offer classes to get you started(scheduled and call ahead). Once you have taken a class you can come in to the studio and purchase silver clay and use our tools to create your custom pieces of jewelry.
• What is the cost to come in to the studio and make jewelry with silver metal clay?
The studio fee and the price of the clay. The studio fee is $10 per hour. The clay price and other related items will be posted in the store. If you are a first time user you will need an overview lesson-cost is $30 for a half hour. See class schedule for formal classes.
• What is included in the silver clay studio fee?
The use of the studio, its' tools and idea books, firing and finishing your piece. There is a separate fee for antique finish.
• Will you have any chains or bracelets to buy to use with our finished silver pieces?
Pottery Bayou will have a selection of chains, bracelets, and earrings for you to purchase.
